Yes, do leave your brains at the door. The premise of this story is painful - she was left at the alter. As you plow through the story, you can only wonder what the guy saw in the girl. Try as I might, I couldn't like her. She was wishy-washy, bitchy, and selfish. For someone who graduated from Harvard with an MBA, she made some stupid decisions. I couldn't get behind her at all. And the guy... I know from experience that a pushy guy is always a pushy guy. You can't fix that. Let's not try to turn that character flaw into a plus and deceive the impressionable readers out there. Avoid this book.

Ex on the Beach A Turtle Island Novel Kim Law 9781477805282 Books Reviews

Enjoyed this story of a second chance for a couple who did not make it all the way to the altar years ago. Andie returned to the home of her Aunt following being left at the altar. She started a business with her aunt. When her ex comes to her resort as a groomsman for a two week stay she has to confront their past.
I thought she gave in to easily to her ex, but she did give him a good what for. She also uncovers family secrets and has to come to terms with her mother. I also think she forgave too easily.
This is a new author for me and I will read her other works as well
I got onto today because I am anxious to read the next installment of Ex on the Beach. I had never read a serial before and wasn't sure what to expect. The book has been great so far, the only flaw that I can see is you have to wait two weeks in between installments! As any of my friends can tell you, I have no patience...surely the two weeks are up already, where's my book? Maybe I should have waited till the end of all the installments to give this book a review but, heck fire, I've loved it so far and the author would really have to go downhill a lot to mess this thing up. Come on, and Kim Law, send me a new installment already! Now I know how Charles Dickens' fans felt when they had to read some of his stories in the local paper in serial form.
I'm not a huge romance reader but every now and then I enjoy a good book. I had never heard of a serial and didn't expect to like it and I can tell you now I positively hate it! Can someone please explain the purpose of this concept??? It makes utterly no sense at all! It reminds me of the "to be continued" stories in old magazines....which you expect to only read monthly because it is a magazine....and oh by the way magazines don't even use that concept anymore. I think Kim Law is a great writer and I am really enjoying the story, have I find myself having a negative association with the book because of how it is presented and find myself not caring about it as much because it's too much work....which I would think is exactly what the author, who put forth the effort to write the book, wouldn't want! A book is for pleasure and enjoyment and shouldn't frustrate the reader or create more work by having to go back and retread the last three pages to remember what's going on when the new episode is delivered. Not enjoyable. BUT, I do like the story and will certainly seek out more of her writing.....
Andie Shayne is a young woman from Chicago, who four years ago, after emotional and job related catastrophes, gave up the big city to live with her Aunt Ginnie on Turtle Island. Ginnie has turned her home into a bed and breakfast/destination wedding site called Seaglass Celebrations, and is starting to get some wonderful feedback from guests. They are getting ready for an over the top affair, with two very upper crust families being joined in marriage, and two weeks of festivities to start off the celebration. Andie is very stressed about this wedding, as it will make or break their business.

Mark Kavanaugh is the man responsible for Andies emotional catastrophe. He left her standing at the alter, with his best man passing on the news he wasn't coming. Four years have past, he is on Turtle Island for the wedding festivities of his friends, and he's the best man. Mark had actually suggested Seaglass Celebrations as a go to site. Now he's here hoping to get a chance to speak to Andie, and try to explain his thoughtless breaking of her heart.

This was a very enjoyable sweet love story. It has lots of twists and turns, and even a mystery is solved. I would recommend this book for a great beach read, and for readers who enjoy love stories.

I waited for all the episodes to be loaded on my before reading this novel. I can't imaging waiting two weeks for another episode. That being said, I felt like the writing was a little "wordy" in parts, I assume to catch up readers to each episode. For me, it made it a slow read in spots.

That being said, I really enjoyed this story. It is my own personal opinion that I am not a fan of Serial Novels, and will avoid buying another. I'm sure some readers would greatly enjoy this type of novel. I am looking forward to reading Ms. Law's newest novel being published in September.
I admit it - this was one of the 99 cents books I flooded my app with over the holidays. Most of those I won't get around to reading until I'm laying around sick or injured and unable to do anything but read. (Is it unlucky to hope for that soon?!) However, the fact that all 3 of these books were 99 cents, plus the brief synopses intrigued me, so I took this one to bed with me the other night. Bad move! Finished it about 1am and started right in on the next one. It killed me to go to work as usual the next morning, but tired as I was, I immediately slipped into reading mode again that afternoon, finished book 2 and plunged into book 3. Now I'm seeking out everything Kim Law has ever written. She's established herself as one of my all-time favorite romance authors. All three books featured just enough potential reality and just enough romance (not to mention just enough heat) that I'm hooked. I'm hoping she'll continue to pick up some of the supporting characters from Turtle Island and keep the series going.
