I had read the two previous books Mckettricks of Texas Garrett and TateMcKettricks of Texas TateMcKettricks of Texas Garrett (Hqn)I knew I wanted to complete the set. The trilogy delivered a nice satisfaction. I would have liked to see the "cowboy" theme more developed. I read in hopes of learning more about something new to me. Overall it was an okay experience.
McKettricks of Texas Austin is by Linda Lael Miller. It is the third in the series about three brothers and their ranch in Texas.
Paige Remington is staying in the guest rooms on Silver Spur Ranch because her home is being remodeled and in uninhabitable right now. Her sister, Julie, insisted she come stay at the home of her fiancé, Garrett until her home is finished. Paige only agreed because she knew Austin would not be there. He was off doing his rodeo thing like he did years ago when they were in high school. They were in love; but he cheated on her and broke her heart. Although Blue Springs is her home and she doesn’t want to live anywhere else, she doesn’t want to run into Austin. She is also waiting for her job at the new clinic is ready. She had taken several interim jobs but now was between jobs. She was grateful for the McKittricks for letting her stay with them. Julie is going to marry Garrett on New Year’s Eve in a double wedding with their older sister Libby who will marry Tate. Paige has decided her role in life must be to be the maiden aunt who loves her nieces and nephews and spoils them. So far, no one has come into her life to stay.
Austin McKettrick was nearly killed a year ago by a bull named Buzzsaw. All the time he was recovering, he was also determined to ride Buzzsaw to the buzzer and show him. It was mainly to show Austin that he was not afraid. He rides Buzzsaw a second time and rides him to the buzzer; but makes a hard landing which results in a herniated disk which causes pain and interferes with his walking at times. Rest will hopefully help or he will have to have an operation. Can he rest? Austin has lived to rodeo and now due to injuries caused by Buzzsaw make that impossible. Now what is he going to do? He heads home to think about what his life will bring and finds Paige living in the guest rooms of his home. Now what will he do? His brothers have asked Paige to stay on as nurse to Austin to try to keep him settled down and not do dangerous things that might cause further injury to his back. Will she take the job? Will Austin cooperate if she does take it?
While Austin and Paige are trying to figure out how they can be cordial to each other since they will be attending LOTS of family gatherings in the future, strange things are happening on the Silver Spur Ranch. Is it an inside job? Who holds enough of a grudge against them to kill and rustle their cattle and tries to burn up the capped oil wells on the ranch?
Love this author great book
She saved the best for last. This book wound up everything, including the rustling and the destruction of the cattle. It wad a glorious love story thrown into the bargain. All three McKettricks finally grew up as did the Remington sisters. Great book.
I always liked this book, I bought it so I could read again and again
Austin was real good read but it couldn't stand up to Tate and Garrett In Tate's story you had two little twins girl Ava &Audrey with Thier castle and in Garrett story you had little Calvin and his hi IQ but I'm Austin there wasn't much story line unless you want to mention Page and her chase of Austin down through town with the golf cart when they were younger but considering it was an alright book
